Sol Bowl Tailgate Champion 2022
Casino Del Sol is looking for Tucson’s best tailgate cooks to compete in the upcoming Sol Bowl Tailgate Championship starting on July 22nd. This year competitors will submit their tailgate burger recipe in advance of the University of Arizona’s first home football game of the season.
Each week, Chef Ryan Clark will choose a winning recipe from the competitors submissions. The weekly winner will have their recipe recreated and showcased by Chef Ryan Clark with an in-game presentation on the jumbo screen at each of Arizona’s first six home football games. They will also be awarded the weekly Sol Bowl Tailgate Championship prize of an official Sol Bowl chef’s apron from Chef Works and $350 in gift cards from Casino Del Sol and local food purveyors as well. Each weekly winner will be entered into the grand prize, a Komada Joe Charcoal Grill, and invited to attend the University of Arizona versus Arizona State Game on November 25. There will be an on field presentation where the grand prize winner will be selected and crowned the 2022 Sol Bowl Tailgate Champion.
“This is one of my favorite times of year,” said Chef Clark. “We saw some really great dishes during the first couple years of Sol Bowl, and I’m sure this year won’t be any different. I’m a Tucson native, a huge football fan and my love of food runs deep, so what better way to celebrate the start of the football season than with some tasty burgers right off the charcoal grill?”
Entrants must be 21 or older, and the deadline to submit recipes for the 2022-23 season is August 12th.
